The Season has begun!!

The start of the season is upon us!!  We wanted to go through some housekeeping items for this season.  Please bear with me as this may get lengthy, but all of the below items are important.

Lakeland Little League has a strict policy regarding dogs at our fields.  As much as we all love our animals, dogs are not allowed at any of our Lakeland Fields.  This includes Brightondale Fields, Wack Field, Spencer Field and Salem Community Park (softball fields). Unfortunately we have had instances in the past and we can not budge on this rule.

We also do not allow smoking or firearms at the fields.  The only exception to the firearms rule is any Law Enforcement Officer, in uniform, that has their weapon secured.

Our Fields Crew and Board of Directors have worked exceptionally hard to bring our fields to the condition that they are this season.  While at the fields, please be mindful of the bullpens by leaving the bases down into the ground and do not throw rocks at the dugouts, on the fields or at other spaces.  We would also ask that you refrain from spitting gum into the urinals & sinks or flushing items down the toilet that should not be (rolls of toilet paper as an example).  Should you see any items that need attention, please let our Board know so that we can fix it as quickly as possible.

Our Concession Stand at Brightondale is looking for help with Volunteers this upcoming season.  Each night we have one individual on the grill and another 2-3 in the Concession Stand.  We would love to have each Lakeland Family choose one night to help fill in the remaining times available for this season.  Having volunteers helps us to keep our registration fees and concession prices down. When you are looking for the best night to help out, please note that our Concession Stand faces Field 1 and the Grill area faces Field 2.  We are also looking for Organizations to "take over" for a night to help earn tips and/or Service Hours for their organization.  If you know of one, please let us know and we can contact them directly.  Here is a direct link to the Sign Up Genius for the season: Lakeland Little League: Concessions Help (

We are looking for additional Umpires for both Baseball and Softball this season.  Should you be interested, please visit our website at Volunteer Opportunities ( and register as a Volunteer Umpire ASAP.  Our Director of Umpires will reach out with additional information after registration.

Lastly, please remember that our League focuses on good sportsmanship, building long lasting relationships between players and positive development in all of our players.  We will not tolerate disrespectful behavior whether it comes from our players, coaches, spectators or umpires.  We want our players to have the best experience possible and we want them to continue to grow in a sport that we all love.  There may be times that you don't agree with a call or with a coach's play but please understand that not only are we mostly all volunteers, we are also human beings.  Treating anyone with disrespect could result in individuals being removed from our field and our Organization.

Thank you for taking the time to read through everything!  As always, please reach out if you have any questions that are not addressed in this email, on our website or on Facebook.  We are excited for the upcoming season and hope that you are as well!!
