Lakelands Lazers Add Some Hardware to Their Shelf!
The 12U Lakeland Lazers Softball Team went undefeated in their tournament at Hitter’s Baseball Academy on Saturday, February 1, 2020 improving their overall record to 19 and 4. The girls finished first in their pool play games beating the Mad City Crush 13 to 5 and the Wisconsin Red Birds 13 to 1. The Lazers advanced to the Championship game against the #1 seeded Germantown Jr. Hawks, which started at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday night. The Lazers jumped out of the gates with 4 runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back winning the Championship 8 to 1. The Lazers played strong defense committing only 2 errors the entire tournament! The Lazers were lead by their two starting pitchers: Lylla Metcalf who started the Championship game and went the distance (Lylla #16 threw 9 innings Saturday giving up only 2 earned runs); and Maya Gagliardi who started the two pool play games (Maya #3 threw 7 innings giving up 3 earned runs).
Congratulations girls! We are all proud of you!
